The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) is now found in a state-of-the-art building on the corner of Fifth and Halket in Oakland. The school’s highly ranked programs prepare students for professions in communication science and disorders, emergency medicine, health informatics, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant studies, prosthetics and orthotics, rehabilitation science, rehabilitation technology, and sports medicine and nutrition. SHRS now offers the nation's first chiropractic program at a research-intensive, public university. U.S. News & World Report has ranked SHRS programs among the top 10 percent of comparable programs in the United States. The school's occupational therapy program is ranked first in the country; the audiology and speech-language pathology programs are ranked sixth and physical therapy is ranked eighth.
