Usha Sethi is the owner and executive chef of the Taj Mahal restaurant in Pittsburgh, PA since its opening in 1996.

Usha’s path to entrepreneurship and the cooking was a unique one, leaving a career in public policy to pursue her love of Indian cuisine and hospitality.

She believes in serving her customers as though they are guests in her own home. She uses no preservatives, chemicals, or flavor enhancers and only the freshest produce, meats and spices. Usha is keenly aware of the health benefits found in the many unique spices and ingredients found in Indian cuisine and is able to accommodate a wide variety of diets and palates.

Taj Mahal is one of the largest Indian catering businesses in Pennsylvania, serving gatherings of all sizes, from small dinner parties to thousand person weddings. She is a cornerstone of the Indian community in Pittsburgh and a beloved mother to many sons and daughters whose weddings she helped make magical.

Usha has a Bachelors of Law degree from Delhi University and Masters in Political Science from Delhi University. She immigrated to the United States in 1985 with her husband Subhash and has two adult children, Manisha and Shiv
