On Monday, April 28, at 12 PM in Posvar 4130, Uriel Simonsohn will present “Harnessing Religion for Social Cohesion: Managing Ethnic Diversity in Haifa.” This presentation will explore the fragility of intercommunal relations in Israel, particularly in mixed cities, where economic disparities and social divisions have historically fueled unrest. Drawing comparisons with the events of May 2021, Simonsohn will highlight the role of interreligious dialogue in mitigating conflict and fostering coexistence.
 

Uriel Simonsohn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies at the University of Haifa and the founding director of the Haifa Laboratory for Religious Studies (HLRS). His work focuses on fostering religious pluralism, interfaith dialogue, and the practical application of religious studies to contemporary challenges.
