Directed by Jay Arms and Andrew Weintraub. The University Gamelan Ensemble welcomes guest artists Ismet Ruchimat and Rita Tila for an evening of Sundanese vocal and gamelan music. The University of Pittsburgh Gamelan Ensemble includes students and community members. Participants in the gamelan program are encouraged to use Sundanese processes of learning as much as possible; oral transmission of musical parts is preferred over written notation and working together as an ensemble is the main priority of the group.
