Are you interested in research? Are you a first-generation college student?

Pitt's recently launched TRIO McNair Scholars Program may be the right fit for you!

The goal of McNair, a grant-funded program from the U.S. Department of Education, is to provide a structured educational experience and support first-generation, limited-income, and underrepresented minority college students in their efforts to pursue a PhD. It also provides students with opportunities for research experience (eight-week Summer Research Institute), academic support, mentoring, professional development, GRE Prep, presenting at national conferences, and attending graduate school fairs.

We are currently recruiting a cohort of rising juniors to begin the program in Fall 2023. Want to find out more and meet our team? Join us for one of two open house events in the Student Success Hub (217 Langley Hall):

  • Thursday, April 13 from noon to 2 p.m.
  • Tuesday, April 18 from 3 to 5 p.m.

We will also have free food and swag!

Interested students can also complete our intake form or contact Natasha Williams, McNair Academic Coordinator, at natasha.williams@pitt.edu.
