This session will focus on understanding the experience of transgender people within the broader social landscape we share, and how we can shift the cultures of our institutions and communities in ways that stop the erasure of trans lives.  Theories that narrowly tether notions of gender to body will be challenged, and ways to move communities and structural systems forward will be addressed. The panel will be moderated by Julie Beaulieu (she/they) Lecturer for the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program and 2019 Bellet Award Winner for Teaching Excellence at the University of Pittsburgh.
