A young man and his fiancee visit their Uncle Jake and get into an argument about the civil-rights movement. They say it's over and that discrimination is a thing of the past. Uncle Jake decides to set them straight.

“Words from the Trail“ by Beltzhoover native Ernie “T.C.” Wade debuted in 2003 at Elon University. Wade is bringing it to Pittsburgh for one night only, Feb. 21, as part of Pitt's #BlackHistoryMonth celebrations.

In today's polarized political climate, he says, the play has more meaning and resonance than ever. A retired university administrator, Wade is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University and Michigan State University who has been writing and speaking about civil rights and the career of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for four decades.
