"Say It Loud" is a book of oral histories collected from people involved with the 1969 computer center takeover.
The book captures and commemorates the history of black student activism at Pitt that was the catalyst of major social and political change.
This event is free and open to the public.
The African American Alumni Council (AAAC) last year kicked off the 50-year commemoration of the 1969 computer center takeover, which led to the forming of Pitt’s Africana Studies program, the recruitment and hiring of more students, staff and faculty of color, and which actualized the Black Action Society’s fight for progress for the African American community at Pitt and in the greater Pittsburgh area.
