Documentary Film Debut
“Blue, Bold, and Black… Say it Loud: From Uprising to Still Rising," is a tribute to the Pitt African American experience as it developed, intensified, and elevated in the 50-year sweep beginning with the Black-student occupation of the University computer center in 1969 to 21st century milestones and achievements of students, alumni, faculty, and administrators.
It is the sequel to “Doorway to Distinction.”
This event is free and open to the public.
The African American Alumni Council (AAAC) last year kicked off the 50-year commemoration of the 1969 computer center takeover, which led to the forming of Pitt’s Africana Studies program, the recruitment and hiring of more students, staff and faculty of color, and which actualized the Black Action Society’s fight for progress for the African American community at Pitt and in the greater Pittsburgh area.
