Ten-Cent Ideology: Donald Duck Comics and U.S. Global Hegemony

Please join the Humanities Center for our Thursday Colloquia with Daniel Immerwahr, Northwestern Unviersity, Professor of History. The respondents will be Scott Sandage (CMU, History) and Wayne Wise (Pitt, English).

These stories, which frequently dwelt on the theme of economic inequality, offered a different understanding of US  foreign relations than the official narratives that Washington backed. Yet the stories had a remarkable sticking power, and their influence can be tracked for decades, including in the films of George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.
