The Center for African Studies invites professors, instructors, and graduate student teachers who would like to include more African content in their teaching and research. 

This year's workshop is led by Pitt faculty who spent four weeks in Senegal in summer 2025 as part of the Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad program to decolonize their ways of thinking. They will lead an interactive workshop on lessons learned and ways their time in Senegal has impacted their teaching and research.  The workshops will focus on diving deeper into your individual teaching and research experiences, with time to reflect on your teaching practices and ways you could include more African content in your syllabi. 

The day includes concurrent workshop sessions; a cultural immersion lunch featuring African cuisine and a Senegalese dance performance; and closes with a group reflection and film screening.
