Provost's Diversity Institute for Faculty Development
This session will present and outline considerations when supporting transgender and non-binary students. It will especially highlight the potential needs of those entering from unsupportive living environments and/or educational settings, as well as what's at stake with current anti-LGBT legislation across the United States. There will be time reserved for Q&A.
Guest Speaker:
Lexie Bean is a trans multimedia artist from the Midwest whose work revolves around themes of bodies, homes, cyclical violence, and queer identity. They are a Jerome Hill Artist Fellow, member of the RAINN National Leadership Council, and a Lambda Literary Award Finalist for WRITTEN ON THE BODY and their work with fellow trans survivors of domestic violence, serving as a speaker and facilitator for more than 120 relevant events.
