About this Event
Provost's Diversity Institute for Faculty Development
In this session, Dr. Rua M. Williams will guide attendees in exploring standard classroom practices that enforce ableist ideals and cause harm to students and teachers alike. Many pedagogical interventions in systemic bias assume that the student suffers only in a normative classroom. Dr. Williams will support faculty attendees in exploring their struggles as opportunities for pedagogical transformation. Attendees will workshop neurodivergent-affirming alternatives to normative pedagogy that help the teacher as much as they support the student.
Guest Facilitator: Rua Mae Williams, Assistant Professor, Purdue University, Computer Graphics Technology
