Join us for the first in a series of Summit recaps! We are so proud that the Summit welcomes over 4,000 attendees, but sometimes it would be great to enjoy smaller discussions around the amazing topics discussed. Well, why not use some time in the summer for this? Our first session will be on the keynote, Appreciative Advising for Today's Student. During this session, we will unpack some of what Jenny discussed guided by the following questions:

  • What steps can an advisor take to disarm a student and make them feel welcomed?
  • Jenny talks about the joy of advising comes from understanding the impact we have on other people’s lives (16:06); what impact do you feel you have on the students that you work with?
  • What can we do with our physical spaces (or virtual ones) that can make students feel more welcome (22:33)?
  • Jenny shared some example discover questions (31:39); what are your favorite discover questions and why?
  • What are some strategies to encourage students to design a plan for themselves without overwhelming them with to-do list items (34:14)?

Consider a full rewatch (recording will be available upon registration), follow the timestamps provided with the questions, or just join in the conversation!
