Helping Clients Hear. Everywhere!
Presented by: Dr. Juliëtte P.M. Sterkens

Even with the most up-to-date hearing aid technologies available today, users of hearing aids and cochlear implantscomplain about their ability to hear over distance, in reverberant and background noise filled venues. This lecture willfocus on how we can help our clients hear in these difficult personal listening situations as well as in those publicplaces that are mandated under the Americans with Disabilities Act to provide public assistive listening assistance. Tohear their best, hearing aid and cochlear implant users need access to Bluetooth technology as well as properlyprogrammed, verified, and validated telecoils. This course will explain the differences in convenience and usefulnessof the different personal and public assistive listening technology and the role the audiologist plays in this counselingprocess. Practical handouts and examples of how the advocacy of providers and consumers has led to improvedhearing access in communities around the country, will be shared.

Friday, November 12 at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
