The second symposium of the Spencer Foundation-funded series “Reimagining Educational Work for Collective Freedom: The Labor Strike as a Portal” will be held via Zoom next Thurs. Sept. 22 and Fri. Sept. 23.  This series brings together activists and academics (and sometimes artists) to talk about education’s liberatory practices and potentialities.  All are invited to these free events.  Featured speakers and performers for next week’s symposium include:

Ujju Aggarwal, a scholar working on public infrastructures, urban space, racial capitalism, rights, gender, and the state

Paula X Rojas, a community organizer and consultant who has been involved with INCITE!(Women of Color Against Violence), Mamas of Color Rising, Embody Transformation, and other initiatives

María Lang, a scholar examining the intersections of language, class, documentedness, religion, and gender in working-class children of Mexican immigrant families

Tejana actor/writer/activist Amalia Ortiz

Verónica Gago, a social science scholar and leader of the #NiUnaMenos movement (Not One More!)

Lucía Cavallero, a lesbian feminist Argentinian activist and social science scholar who has analyzed and organized about the relationship between sexist violence and economic violence and is also a leader of the #NiUnaMenos movement (Not One More!)

Yves Tong Nguyen, a queer disabled organizer with Red Canary Song and Survived and Punished NY.
