Slavic Spring Media Festival introduces students and guests to Slavic spring rituals that mark renewal, fertility, and the transition from winter to summer. Through food, crafts, music, and collective activities participants encounter living practices that connect seasonal change to shared cultural memory across multiple Slavic regions.
This year’s festival places special emphasis on media and visual culture, exploring how spring traditions are represented, reimagined, and circulated today. Alongside hands-on activities, the program features a curated presentation of photographs from different Slavic countries, a short video essay composed of animated films on spring themes, and demonstrations of contemporary spring-related video games. By combining traditional rituals with modern media formats, the festival highlights the global and evolving nature of Slavic cultural heritage, inviting participants to reflect on how seasonal celebrations adapt across time, geography, and artistic media.
