For many of us, balancing hectic teaching schedules, ambitious research agendas, and service duties with our busy personal lives can seem nearly impossible. The stress created by this balancing act is compounded by the crucial-but-exhausting work of engaging with and caring for students. Often, caring for ourselves falls last on a lengthy to-do-list-assuming we think about it at all. In the first of this two-part series, we will discuss how to escape this burnout inducing cycle, reprioritize self-care, and practice self-care.
