Dr. Verónica Montecinos presents "Seeing Gender in Presidential Politics"

Dr. Montecinos will discuss how the historically recent and still limited presence of women in executive office compels us to reconsider debates on democracy and democratization. 

Verónica Montecinos is Distinguished Professor of Sociology at The Pennsylvania State University, Greater Allegheny Campus where she has coordinated a program for curriculum internationalization since 2004. She is the editor of Women Presidents and Prime Ministers in Post-Transition Democracies (Palgrave, 2017) and is currently working on the connections between gender politics, economics, and Latin American democratization.
