Surgical airway management remains an opportunity to demonstrate our skill as airway experts. This is a workshop open to all anesthesiologists and certified registered nurse anesthetists in our department to learn, train, and practice the scalpel bougie front of neck access technique with local airway expert faculty. In a 30-minute workshop, participants will receive personalized training and feedback.

Objectives

  • Learn and practice the scalpel-bougie front of neck access technique 
  • Participate in a simulation clinical trial

Registration and Workshop Information

  • Request Enrollment for 30-minute time slot (slots span from 8AM-12PM)
  • Max 4 participants for each 30-minute time slot
  • Watch Powerpoint presentation and video before live workshop
  • Live workshop includes one-on-one personalized training and feedback
  • Workshop is part of a clinical trial to assess skill retention

This activity is approved for the following credit: AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Certified nurse anesthetists will receive 1 Class A credit confirming the number of contact hours commensurate with the extent of participation in this activity.

This workshop is supported by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Early Career Research Award Grant, Passavant Hospital Foundation and UPMC Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine.
