Provost's Diversity Institute for Faculty Development

As we work to help LGBTQ+ students navigate the challenges of our educational landscape, we must also recognize, celebrate, and cultivate queer joy in spaces of teaching and learning. This undergraduate student panel centers queer student voices from our campuses. It seeks to explore the following questions:

  • What is queer joy and belonging in the classroom?
  • What specific practices in the classroom help cultivate or make room for queer joy? How can we imagine queer-inclusive classrooms that celebrate queer joy and belonging?

Student Panelists:

  • Jack Yoon
  • Yasmeen Gauri
  • Alex Aleco
  • Laura Stravach

Moderator:

Taylor Waits, Graduate Student Assistant for Equity, Inclusion and Pedagogy, University Center for Teaching and Learning
