The Humanities Center welcomes Louis Maraj (English) for a workshop.
In what ways do systems of power shape how we engage each other in institutional and everyday spaces? How do our social positions within these systems affect communication between us? What possibilities lie in mobilizing our identities, experiences, and acknowledgement of various ‘genres of being human’ toward the invention of more just futures? This workshop invites participants to reflect on their positional relationships to systemic power, to break them down through lived experience, and to discuss how identity narratives might function in antiracist being in life and work. Join Louis M. Maraj, author of the forthcoming book Black or Right: Anti/Racist Campus Rhetorics, in this awareness exercise.
