FIGURE AND FORCE IN ANIMATION AESTHETICS
Ryan Pierson's book, Figure and Force in Animation Aesthetics (Oxford University Press, 2019), examines postwar animation techniques in light of twentieth century philosophies of perception. His articles have appeared in the Journal of Cinema and Media Studies, the Velvet Light Trap, the New Review of Film and Television Studies, and Animation: an Interdisciplinary Journal. His current book project examines the film theory of Vachel Lindsay in the context of turn-of-the-century visual and political culture.
