Suicide is the leading cause of death for college students in the United Statess.   Rising statistics in our veterans, LGBTQ+ students and students transitioning to college are concerning to all of us who care at The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.

Help us share the word about resources and services for students who may be at risk and/or having suicidal thoughts. We are here and want to take this national prevention day to offer support, reflection, rememberance and a promise to be here and do what we can to offer support and hope.

A social media campaign will occur throughout the day.  CHALK THE WALK will feature positive messaging from students, clubs and organizatons around campus. If you want to help, please meet SGA President, Tessa Fry at the gazebo at 1pm.

Then join us at 8pm in the tent at University Square for a reflection vigil where members of our university community will llight candles as a part of World Suicide Prevention Day 2020.  We hope you will offer your support online or in person by supporting these activities.

We all have our story and have been impacted by someone in our lives who has taken their own life.  Let's do our part in opening the dialogue and opening our hearts to prevent future pain for all.

If you want to get involved with this important observance, please contact Heather Hall at hbh7@pitt.edu
