About this Event
UPJ Upcycle is a way to redirect unwanted items from landfills, and potentially into the hands of UPJ community members who can get more use from them! Students who donate are given tickets, which they can then use to shop for items donated by others. Everyone can also shop for items with cash, with all items (regardless of value) sold for $1 each. All cash profits will go to the PJ Provides Campus Food Pantry initiative and other similar student wellness projects.
Donations should focus on college student friendly items - clothes, shoes, kitchen accessories, stationery and office supplies, etc. We also encourage donations of business attire for both this event and our Career Closet housed in Career Services (students can borrow clothing for interviews and job fairs) and cold weather wear (coats, hats, scarves, etc.).
Please, no large furniture (desk chairs and bookcases/storage drawers are OK), no outdated electronics, TVs, or undergarments (gently used bras may be donated separately for our local women's shelter). Food items and toiletries will be accepted for direct donation to PJ Provides.
Items remaining at the end of the event will be donated to Goodwill Industries of the Southern Alleghenies and other local non-profit agencies as appropriate.
Shopping will occur Wednesday and Thursday 10 am -5pm and Friday 10 am to 2pm (April 17-19).
