The University of Pittsburgh’s Clinical and Translational Science Institute, the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh, the New Pittsburgh Courier, and UPMC’s Center for Engagement and Inclusion work together to deliver quality health education on critical public health topics each month through the Community Health Series Partnership.
Join us on August 15th to hear from Dr. Shallegra Moye discussing Minority Youth Education. She will highlight the 3Rs program that empowers Black children through the gift of reading. There will be available resources, engagement opportunities, and action steps for folks to get connected to resources. Shallegra Moye, EdD, is a new instructor in the Department of Africana Studies. She is widely known as a scholar-practitioner, community collaborator, and public education equity and justice champion. Dr. Shallegra Moye currently serves on advisory boards for several youth-serving organizations and provides capacity building for adults serving students and families and mentoring young people. Shallegra Moye is the recipient of the Jefferson Awards Pittsburgh ChangeMakers, State of Black Learning Black Educators Excellence Award, APlus Schools ChangeMakers, and When She Thrives Community Cultivator award. Shallegra Moye is a graduate of Carlow University and received an EdD from the School of Education at the University of Pittsburgh.
