Join the Department of PM&R for a monthly-invited lecture in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Topics will be of interest to our Residents, Fellows, and Post-docs, but the event is open to trainees and faculty of all departments.

December's topic: Fit Happens - Or Does It? Toward Data-Driven, Systematic Optimization of Limb Prostheses

Presented by: Goeran Fiedler, PhD, OTM  

Goeran Fiedler currently serves as Associate Professor in the Prosthetics & Orthotics program at Pitt’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. He is a credentialed Prosthetist & Orthotist with graduate degrees in Clinical Engineering (University of Applied Sciences Giessen, GER) and Health Sciences (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, WI), and post-doctoral training in Rehabilitation Technology (University of Washington Seattle, WA). His research has the overall goal to find ways of raising the quality and quantity of prosthetic & orthotic device utilization, in order to realize outcome gains that are inexpensive to achieve and applicable to a large patient population. Fiedler’s passion for prosthetics and orthotics is motivated by the tangible, immediate impact of his work on the patient’s quality of life.
