Good data organization is the foundation of any research project. This is especially true for projects involving data processing, analysis, and visualization. This two-part workshop will introduce best practices for using spreadsheets in the important “data wrangling” stage that sets you up to work with data effectively.

Part 1 (12:00-1:00pm)

  • Common uses for spreadsheets
  • Good data entry and formatting practices
  • How to avoid common formatting mistakes

Part 2 (1:00-2:00pm)

  • How to document data for future use
  • Basic quality control and data manipulation in spreadsheets
  • How to export data from spreadsheets

Participants are free to join one or both parts.
