Abstract:  Transference is a psychological phenomenon where emotions, expectations, and experiences from past or desired relationships is projected onto a current relationship.  This session will examine the intricacies of transference within the clinical relationship, considering factors that contribute to its emergence on the part of both patient and clinician.  We will explore strategies to mitigate its potential negative effects and explore the role of emotional intelligence in addressing compassion fatigue while dealing with complex clinical cases.
