Join us for a special open mic celebrating work that encourages, challenges, and expands our perspective of an equitable Pittsburgh.
The evening kicks off with performances by award winners from Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh, an inclusive call for art that encouraged artists throughout southwestern Pennsylvania to share their visions for a just and equitable city. Imaan Saeed, Cerrina Hagood, and Kandala Singh are our featured artists for the night.
Then the stage opens to anyone, from first-time performers to seasoned veterans, to take the stage and share their creative work with an audience.
Pitt students, faculty, and staff and all performance-based genres are welcome: original music or covers; poetry, storytelling, and spoken word; dance, skits or monologues. If you can do it in public, you can do it on our stage.
Performance slots are limited, and sign-up starts at 8:15 p.m. Come to perform, or just to be part of our supportive community audience and soak up the vibe (and snacks).
Artwork: Morgan Overton. Envisioning a Just Pittsburgh is an initiative by Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, the University of Pittsburgh, 1Hood Media, and the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.
