Open Pedagogy: An Introduction

Wednesday, February 25, 2026 10:00am to 11:15am EST

This introductory workshop explores the core ideas of open pedagogy, an approach that supports students as creators of knowledge. Participants will learn how open pedagogy fosters collaboration, transparency, and student agency through the use of open educational practices (OEP) and open educational resources (OER). The session highlights how openly licensed, student-created work can extend beyond the classroom and impact the wider community.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define open pedagogy and its relationship to OEP and OER.
  • Explain how open licensing enables student-created work to be shared beyond the classroom.
  • Identify examples of open pedagogy assignments and consider how to integrate them into their courses.
