Fifth Ave at Bigelow, Pittsburgh, 15213

Hosted by the Humanities Center and faculty fellow, Delanie Jenkins. Respondents include Vuk Vuković, PhD Candidate in the History of Art and Architecture department and Kate Joranson, Former Head Librarian of the Henry Clay Frick Fine Arts Library and Faculty in the School of Education. This event will be hybrid, so you can attend it either in person in 602 CL or via Zoom as you prefer.

Writer Rebecca Solnit notes that “inside the word ‘emergency’ is ‘emerge’; from an emergency new things come forth. The old certainties are crumbling fast, but danger and possibility are sisters.” Within the urgency of the everyday, how does one cultivate the unknown, remain in the generative and uncomfortable space of possibility, embed in deep experience while tending chance, linger before leaping? In this presentation, Jenkins will share experiments and creative work in process from field work in the muck and mire, a pre- and post-expeditionary search in the Arctic through questions and gestures.

Precirculated material for this colloquium will be available here about two weeks prior and up to the event.
