The Jewish community along with the whole of the NYU community at large are devastated and shocked by the massacre at Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh this past Shabbat (Saturday) morning.
We will be gathering for a vigil on the steps of Kimmel at 5PM on Monday, October 29th to share prayers and thoughts and to stand alongside one another in our grief.
The vigil is co-sponsored by The Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at NYU, NYU Global Spiritual Life, NYU Center for Student Life, Islamic Center at New York University, NYU Office Of Global Inclusion, Diversity, and Strategic Innovation, The Catholic Center at NYU, NYU JLSA, Weinstein Hall Advisory Team, NYU Hindu Center, Realize Israel, TorchPAC, Shalhevet, Hillel at NYU, 929 English, NYU Stern Jewish Students Association (JSA), Drisha Institute for Jewish Education, MEOR NYU, Sephardic Club of NYU, Chabad House Bowery, J Street NYU, Kesher: Reform Jews at NYU, NYU Wagner Student Association, Protestant Life at NYU, Canterbury Downtown, NYU Center for Multicultural Education and Programs (NYU CMEP), NYU LGBTQ Student Center, The Conservative Synagogue of Fifth Avenue, and NYU Jewish Voice for Peace. All other groups are invited to co-sponsor as we support one another in our sorrow and resolve that this not happen again. To cosponsor, please message The Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at NYU's Facebook Page or email Emily.Hirsch@nyu.edu.
May the memory of the victims be a blessing and may the injured experience a speedy and full recovery.
