Nursing in the Time of COVID: A Review of State and Federal Policy Responses Impacting the Nurse Workforce

This virtual breakfast is hosted by the Pitt Nursing Health Services and Policy Research Group.

The coronavirus pandemic has brought the importance of nursing to the public’s attention. In response to the anticipated and actual demand on the healthcare workforce, the federal government and states have responded with a number of policy changes. From permitting providers with out-of-state licenses to work in high-need settings to removing scope-of-practice restrictions on nurse practitioners, this breakfast reviews the health policies that nurses should be aware of and their implications for practice and future policy.

Guest speaker is Hayley Germack, PhD, MHS, RN, an assistant professor in the Department of Acute and Tertiary Care at the School of Nursing. Her research examines improving access to high quality care for people with behavioral health disorders.
