Beckwith Auditorium

This talk by visiting scholar Dr. Farha Ternikar explores the significance of foodways for Muslim Indian immigrant women in the United States. Using a transnational and intersectional feminist framework, Ternikar's talk will use narrative and ethnography to highlight her ongoing research with Muslim women in a Florida community. This interdisciplinary project expands how we understand the role of food in building communities. Immigration continues to be a debated issue across the US, and food can be a lens to understand how Muslim immigrant women navigate community, identity and experiences of belonging and unbelonging.
