Canceled: Music on the Edge: Percussionist Al Cerulo

This is a past event.

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED due to the Omicron surge.

Co-presented with the Andy Warhol Museum

Al Cerulo was given his first pair of drumsticks by his father at the age of seven and has never looked back. He has been praised for his work as a musician and educator both nationally and internationally. Al is an advocate for the commissioning and performing of new works by both established and up-and- coming composers to help move forward and breathe new life into the art.

Amplified Perception is a seventy-five-minute soundscape sculpted through the music of five composers whose compositional styles are each uniquely beautiful: Jude Traxler, Eve Beglarian, Mathew Rosenblum, Paula Matthusen, and Randy Gibson. Writing for a single voice, each composer enhances the acoustic timbre of their instrument with live amplification and/or digital processing. Featuring sound design by Jude Traxler and a prelude and postlude of pre-recorded media by Cerulo and Echo Artifact, today's journey will take the listener through various sound worlds - from the ambient to periodic to unearthly.

  • Doors open at 7:30 p.m.

  • Please note: For your safety and the safety of those around you, all those attending this performance must show proof of a Covid-19 vaccination (final vaccine must be dated at least 14 days prior to the performance) at their time of entry with a valid ticket. Proof of vaccination can be shown via the physical card, a photo of your card, or digital vaccination passport apps. In addition, all those in attendance must wear a face mask that covers both the nose and mouth. Guests who do not follow posted safety guidelines or instructions from staff will be asked to leave the premises. Failure to comply with this policy or rude or aggressive behavior will not be tolerated.

  • Notice for all buyers – By attending an in-person event at any of the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, you and any guests agree to voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19 and agree not to hold any presenting entities, artists, and the venue; or any of their affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors, or volunteers liable for any illness or injury.
