DESCRIPTION:This is the second of three sessions in the Mentoring Academy s
 eries. This session will\, through interactive case studies\, provide an o
 pportunity to discuss best practices in Addressing Equity and Inclusion (C
 ompetency #5). Mentoring Academy members\, who are trained faculty recogni
 zed for their contributions to mentoring at the University of Pittsburgh\,
  will facilitate the session. Participants can attend one session or atten
 d all three sessions to complete all eight competencies and earn a credent
 ial. The Mentoring Academy builds upon the curriculum provided by the Cent
 er for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER).\n\nBy 
 the end of the session\, participants will be able to:\n\nImprove and expa
 nd understanding of equity and inclusion\, and how diversity influences me
 ntor-mentee interactions.Recognize the potential impact of conscious and u
 nconscious biases on the mentor-mentee relationship and reflect on how to 
 manage them.Identify concrete strategies for learning\, recognizing\, and 
 addressing issues of equity and inclusion to engage in conversations about
  diversity with mentees and foster a sense of belonging. \n\nGuest Facilit
