Please note: This course is two days long. Participants must attend both sessions. This course is for Faculty and Staff only.

  • Session 1 is Thursday, Feb. 7 from 12:30-5:00 p.m.
  • Session 2 is Friday, Feb. 8 from 8:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m.

This free nine-hour course gives people the skills to help someone who is experiencing a mental health crisis.

Learn about the signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, appropriate interventions and referrals, ways to provide initial help and obtain a three-year certification. This is a follow-up to the session on Working with Distressed Students (2018 Provost’s Diversity Institute for Faculty Development).

Lunch will be provided on Thursday and breakfast on Friday. This event is co-sponsored with the Wellness Center.

Registration for University Center for Teaching and Learning workshops is mandatory. Registering for workshops ensures the distribution of pre-workshop materials and helps maintain the integrity of our attendance records.

If you have any special accommodation needs, please contact us at workshops@teaching.pitt.edu in advance.
