The Swanson School of Engineering launches Leadership Conversations, a new speaker series exploring the experiences, decisions, partnerships and challenges that shape leadership and impact. Presented by the Office of the Associate Dean for Faculty Development.

For the inaugural conversation, Rory Cooper will present “Building HERL: From an Idea to a Research Enterprise,” sharing the story behind the development of Pitt’s Human Engineering Research Laboratories and lessons learned from building a collaborative research enterprise with lasting impact. Dr. Cooper is Director of the Human Engineering Research Laboratories and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research for STEM-Health Sciences Collaborations at Pitt.

Michele V. Manuel, PhD, U. S. Steel Dean of Engineering, will provide opening remarks. Following Cooper’s presentation, Anne M. Robertson, PhD, Associate Dean for Faculty Development and Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence, will moderate a conversation with Cooper. 

The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided.
