Introduction to Text Analysis and Visualization with Voyant

This is a past event.

Text analysis is the process of examining texts to discover new information or answer specific research questions using algorithms that quickly identify facts, relationships, and patterns in a body of texts. This information can be converted into structured forms for visualization using charts, graphs, mind maps, word clouds, and more. This workshop will introduce text analysis and visualization with Voyant, an open-source, web-based application for text analysis. Participants will learn: some basics of preparing text for analysis; some best practices for text visualization; how to use multiple tools within Voyant and their benefits/limitations; and some ways text analysis could be incorporated into their research.

Thursday, March 5 at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Hillman Library, Digital Scholarship Commons, G-49
