Introduction to QGIS

This is a past event.

The workshop will introduce you to QGIS - an Open Source GIS software that runs on Linux, Unix, Mac OSX, Windows and Android and supports numerous vector, raster, and database formats and functionalities. QGIS currently offers vector analysis, sampling, geo-processing, geometry and database management tools. In this workshop you will learn to: view and overlay vector and raster data in different formats and projections without conversion to an internal or common format; compose maps and interactively explore spatial data; create, edit, manage and export vector and raster layers; and perform spatial data analysis on spatial databases and other OGR- supported formats.

Workshop preparation: This workshop will take place in the Digital Scholarship Commons Computer Lab. Participants who plan to bring their own device must download and install QGIS prior to attending the workshop.

This workshop is part of our Navigating Digital Cartography Series.

Wednesday, October 6 at 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
