Introduction to Blackboard

New to Blackboard? This workshop provides the information and skills you need to start using Blackboard, the University of Pittsburgh’s learning management system. After an overview of Blackboard and its major components, we'll work hands-on and step-by-step to build a course. No prior knowledge is required to attend this workshop, but you should be able to log in to the Pitt Portal with your Pitt username and password. Please bring your dual authentication device.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Log in to Blackboard, create and organize course content, and make your course available to students.
  • Use Blackboard workflows to streamline administrative tasks.
  • Integrate and use the Grade Center within Blackboard.
  • Use predictable course design principals to make course content easy to find and utilize.

Registration for workshops is mandatory which ensures distribution of pre-workshop materials and maintain accurate attendance records.
