Instructional Multimedia: Introduction

This is a past event.

If you’re interested in beginning to create rich digital and multimedia content for your courses, you probably have a lot of questions. What are the benefits to teaching and learning? What options are available to you at Pitt? How long will it take you? Where do you begin? In this workshop, a multidisciplinary team of instructional designers and technologists will help you get your footing in the instructional multimedia landscape at Pitt, including a brief visit to the Media Creation Lab, a digital audiovisual recording studio that is freely available for faculty and staff use.

After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the uses and functions of educational multimedia
  • Implement evidence-based pedagogical best practices for educational video
  • Understand the menu of hardware and software available for faculty and staff use at Pitt
  • Create a plan and time estimate for the three stages of multimedia production
  • Schedule time in the Media Creation Lab and arrange for assistance from Teaching Center staff

Registration for workshops is mandatory which ensures distribution of pre-workshop materials and maintain accurate attendance records.
