For the past seven years, the World History Center has held teaching workshops at the beginning of each semester to share insights about world history pedagogy. Please join us on Thursday, September 5 from 11:30-12:30 PM for the Center’s next event, “Innovative Approaches to the World History Survey .”

The goal of this event is to encourage dialogue and open conversation about possibilities and challenges of teaching world history at Pitt, where instructors of History 700 cover the entire global human experience in a single semester course. World History Center Associate Director Raja Adal and History Department graduate student Meining Wang will share how they approached and organized their World History course as a first-time world history instructors last spring. Following Raja and Meining's presentation, we will have time for intellectually stimulating discussion about the range of methods that historians might use for teaching concepts and events in the transregional and global past.

We encourage everyone teaching world history this semester and past or potential future world history instructors to attend this event. In keeping with the interdisciplinary mission of the World History Center, we warmly invite participation from faculty and graduate students interested in  historical pedagogy from any department.

A light lunch will be available during the event. RSVP here.
