Incorporating Active Learning into Remote Lectures

This is a past event.

The average time undergraduate students can focus on a continuous lecture is 7-10 minutes. Staying engaged in a remote learning environment where students are surrounded by distractions may even be more of a challenge. Incorporating active learning strategies into your lectures helps students stay engage, understand content, and increase their retention. With planning, using active learning techniques in remote courses is fairly simple. Whether you plan to deliver remote lectures synchronously using a web conferencing tool like Zoom or asynchronously using a lecture capture tool like Panopto, you will leave this workshop with at least three active learning strategies that you can use in your lectures.

All workshops will be conducted via Zoom eastern time.

Please contact workshops@teaching.pitt.edu for any questions.

Dial-In Information

Space is limited. Please register to attend. You will receive an email with a Zoom meeting link prior to the virtual workshop.

Tuesday, July 28 at 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
