Abstract
This presentation will introduce American Airlines and the Operations Research and Advanced Analytics team. It will highlight several innovative projects the team has worked on, with a focus on enhancing crew assignment, baggage handling, and customer experience. The talk will showcase how advanced analytical techniques have been applied to solve real-world challenges, driving improvements in operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Bio
Shreyas Ravishankar is an Industrial Engineer with a passion for solving complex operational challenges in supply chain optimization, network optimization, scheduling, conservation planning, and vehicle routing. Originally from Bangalore, India—the Silicon Valley of India—Shreyas Ravishankar has built a strong academic and professional foundation in the field of Industrial Engineering. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and Management, Shreyas Ravishankar moved to the United States in 2017 to pursue a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering at Arizona State University. Driven by a desire to dive deeper into the field, Shreyas Ravishankar went on to complete a PhD in Industrial Engineering, where research in operational research (OR) fueled a particular interest in optimization problems. During the PhD journey, Shreyas Ravishankar interned at OpsLab, a company that develops scheduling and assignment solvers for the U.S. Air Force. This experience sparked an interest in the aviation industry, ultimately leading to a career path focused on aviation-related operational challenges. In 2023, Shreyas Ravishankar joined Pioneer Natural Resources as a Data Scientist. In January 2024, Shreyas Ravishankar joined American Airlines as a member of the crew scheduling and planning team, where they continue to leverage their deep knowledge of optimization techniques to improve operational workflows in the airline industry.
