Human Trafficking in Our Community: What Health Care Professionals Need to Know

The University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing and Pittsburgh Action Against Rape (PAAR) are collaborating to present this learning activity to increase awareness of the human trafficking problem in our area. Human trafficking is a form of modern slavery that occurs in every state. In 2017, the National Human Trafficking Hotline receive 3,771 calls regarding human trafficking, resulting into 914 cases in Pennsylvania alone. Health care professionals need to be able to recognize the signs of human trafficking and be aware of local resources available to help victims.
