How to Use Web APIs for Collecting Data and Other Stuff: A WPRDC Workshop

Join David Walker and Steve Saylor from the Western Pennsylvania Regional Data Center (WPRDC) as they give an introduction to how web APIs (Application Program Interfaces) work. They will demonstrate how to get information from the WPRDC data portal through its API. They will also demonstrate examples of APIs for other popular web services such as Spotify, Twitter, the Port Authority of Allegheny County, and others. During this workshop you will be able to run and tinker with example code through your web browser (using Jupyter notebooks) on our lab computers or on your own device. There will be some time in the middle of the workshop for you to ask your own data collection or API questions to the WPRDC staff.

Friday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
