By the end of the program, participants will be able to:

  • Describe services offered by The Open Door, Inc. for people with HIV that are facing housing insecurity.
  • Identify three key aspects of The Open Door, Inc.’s approach to helping those with HIV secure and maintain safe, affordable housing.
  • Define the following key terms and delineate the relationship towards those with HIV: housing first, harm reduction, and trauma-informed housing.
  • Describe the importance of a good team that holds each other accountable through transparency and self-reflection.
  • Define what role a peer navigator plays in the HIV and housing insecure population and why they are essential to making the program a success.
  • Identify key aspects of individualized, participant-centered programing.
  • Explain what the following concept means for those with HIV: “It takes connection to make a trauma and it takes connection to break a trauma.”
