Exposure to chemical, biological, and physical hazards found in research laboratories and vivariums have been linked to serious health impacts,  including cancer, CNS disorders, and organ damage.  Hazardous materials and procedures also pose safety and facility hazards, including fire, and explosions.  The goal of the University of Pittsburgh IACUC Hazard Communication Program is to communicate hazards found in animal research areas and ensure managers and employees are knowledgeable regarding handling hazardous materials and the use of safety equipment and PPE needed to protect themselves.

This webinar is relevant for investigators, postdocs, graduate students, and staff members who maintain or are listed on active IACUC protocols. This is intended to be informative, and attendance is NOT required.

This session will be presented by Rebecca Lingenfelter, Associate Biosafety Officer, University of Pittsburgh Department of Environmental Health and Safety
